"Clients are seeking the fastest transport corridor. Right now, the fastest way to Russia is through Finland," said Tarmo Sernjavki from Hert- Transport.

But nevertheless, Estonia has good potential, believes Port of Sillamäe marketing director Anton Gans.

"Some years ago Finnish port Hanko used to be number one in car transit business. Now the main flow is moving to Kotka, closer to Russian border. Sillamäe is the closest EU port to Russia. In the long term we will be very competitive," commented Gans to Logistics monthly.

Estonian hauliers complain that government officials does not take any action towards the border crossing in Narva, where the average waiting time is 36 hours or more.

Madis Oviir, Top Trans Baltic CEO, looks optimistically into the future.

"Russian middle-class is increasing rapidly. Russian car market is bottomless. We estimate this years car transit capacity around 50 000 cars via Estonia," was Oviir optimistic.

Car transit through Estonia started summer 2006.

Cargomasters Estonia line manager Oleg Jakovlev told to Logistics monthly that the increase of the sea freight will be around 200 USD per TEU.

"We estimate, that the price will reach the same level as in 2001. It will happen somewhere in the second half of the year," commented Jakovlev.

Increasing production volumes in Far East cause container deficit, which lift up the import prices of the container goods. Delivering a 20 foot container costs around 2500 USD, in the same time sending an export 20 foot container from Estonia costs only 500 USD.

Cargomasters Estonia represents Evergreen, Hatsu Marine and Italia Marittima shipping lines.

The new Peugeot Expert Tepee is now available in Estonia. Tepee is new product in the Peugeot car range.

It is designed to meet the requirements of both the commercial passenger transport sector and the private family sector.

It is available in three trim levels all with different looks and equipment levels. The Expert Tepee is also available in two wheelbase lengths in order to meet the requirements of many different customers.

All the engine options available for Expert Tepee meet the standards of Euro 4 emissions. There are two 2,0 litre HDi diesel engines producing 88 KW and 100 KW, both developed in partnership between PSA Peugeot Citro?n and Ford.

Still with reducing user costs in mind, the maintenance service intervals have been increased to every 30 000 km under normal vehicle usage.

The Expert range of commercial vehicles made its appearance in the autumn of 1995 as one of the pioneers in the compact van market. Since its launch, more than 300 000 Experts have been produced.
